The CSU Society for Ecological Restoration Student Association is an official student chapter of the Society for Ecological Restoration International (SER). The CSU student association works to support SER's mission and students receive membership privileges within SER.
The specific goal of the student club is to bring together individuals from different disciplines who are involved with solving environmental problems in order to create a web of communication that enhances the effectiveness of environmental problem solving through the increase of knowledge that comes with multi-disciplinary networking.
We do this through hosting speakers realted to restoration sectors, hosting student professional networking opportunites and participating in local, regional and national conferences as well as participating in volunteer events. We also organize a native plant sale to promote the use of native plant material in landscaping and to raise funds for association events.
The disciplines of environmental restoration, reclamation, rehabilitation, and revegetation cross many multi-disciplinary boundaries in an attempt to solve environmental problems. Some of the issues related to these problems are, but are not limited to, resource management, applied ecology, landscape patterns & processes, cultural resources & stewardship, water contamination, stream restoration, establishment of native plants, genetic & molecular evolution, and soil resources.
