On April 20-22, Juan Carlos Caballero-Perez, a pioneer in the Metalsmithing & Jewelry field will give an artist talk, demonstration and do one-on-one critiques at CSU! This is a FREE EVENT for all attendees hosted by the Metalsmithing Guild of CSU and made possible by ASCSU.
"Juan Carlos Caballero-Perez is a Metal artist and educator from Mexico City, Mexico. Carlos has been a Professor in the Metals Program at Rochester Institute of Technology since 2001. A New York State Foundation of the Arts Fellow and Craft Alliance of New York State Career Development Grant Recipient, Carlos teaches, gives demonstrations and lectures nationally and internationally." (Rochester Institute of Technology website).
He has taught a plethora of workshops around the world and offers valuable insight as an artist of Color.
Here is the intenerary for this event:
Thursday April 20th at 5:30pm, Visual Arts room #F101:
Juan Carlos will give an Artist Talk accompanied by a slideshow, detailing his work, career, successes, biography and stories.
Friday, April 21st, 10am - 4pm, Visual Arts room #E102:
He will do a demonstration of some of his personal favorite techniques and processes. You must RSVP in advance with Julia Mancarella (firstname.lastname@example.org) or in Visual Arts room# E102. Due to a limited amount of space, Friday and Saturday's event is capped at 20 people.
We will have a hour long break for lunch at 12-1
Saturday, April 22nd, 10am - 4pm, Visual Arts room #E012
Juan Carlos will wrap up his visit by doing group critiques and one-on-one critiques. This is a wonderful time to ask him about any specific questions you may have regarding your work or what you intend on doing in the future.
